Marina Del Rey outrigger canoe club is now into the 9 man season of races. This weekend we will be racing a new venue. Off of Oxnard, we will race around the channel islands. This is a relay race and each canoe will have 6 men and 6 women that will trade out every 30 minutes to paddle the entire race! I’m really excited because it’s new and it will be a great challenge!
We had dad’s “Life Celebration” last weekend and it was great. I will work on getting pictures and the video we created up here as soon as possible.
A lot of things coming up to write about soon. Stay tuned! Hugs, Kathleen
Today is day #3 at San Diego’s huge ComicCon convention! This years seems to be the biggest I have ever seen. There are so many people and probably as many people outside the convention center as inside! There are a lot of attractions to see just walking around the local streets, bands, free give aways (swag) food, unusual looking people!! It’s overwhelming at times
My favorite part is seeing all the RedvsBlue fans that continue to come back year after year!!
Our RVB panel was a huge success, the room was packed, so over 500 fans unfortunately there was about 100 who weren’t able to make it inside the room
Good times!

After a ton of code delving today I finally found a very basic code feature that allows Kathleen to be able to post blog entries from her fancy iPhone. Long and short of it, it ended up being some basic CSS code which controls the maximum width an image is to be displayed. So now Kathleen should be able to make blog entries from San Diego along with pics.
Kama
wow, this year is flying by and I can’t believe it is already July. This past weekend was the 4th of July weekend and it turned into quite a tough one for me, my mom and sister. We had no idea how much it would make us feel dads void. I have to give a thanks to Kama, because he we there for me the whole weekend. There are days that go by and I’m myself, but when a tough day comes a long..wow, it’s sad.
I had to take a week off from paddling. I had a bit of an issue with my hip and needed to let some of the nerves calm down a bit. I’m sure my lack of working out doesn’t help my spirits.
Well, I’m off to start painting mom’s bathroom
There is always something to do in the house….it’s good to be busy!
Hello my little pretties!
Today is a great day…..Tex is back and she’s on a mission! I had to be so quiet about it all and boy…let me tell you that was really hard!! I was in Austin about 1 month ago and had a great time, but of course didn’t mention it because you guys would have put ‘two and two” together!
Weekend’s race was a HUGE let down. Ventura was socked in with fog and it delayed our race by almost 2 hours…which then ruins all the nutrition and preparation. They also shortened our race from 12 miles to 8 miles because of the fog. We got no warm up time and I almost coughed up a lung at the end of the race
But we did have an after party at our paddling friends and it was the best time ever! I was doing back flips in the pool which we have video of, so I will definitely get my hands on that to post!
Well, I hope you guys are as excited about Tex’s return as I am!
Big hugs! Kathleen
Happy April Fools Day!
I’m finally getting into the swing of updating this lovely website!
For those of you who didn’t know, I lost my father January 2nd to Pancreatic Cancer. We have all been coping with his sudden loss as best as we can. Mom and I are now roommates! And we are getting use to what that means. My father took care of everything in their lives, so now I’m helping take some of those responsibilities to help mom get a little bit more independent.
I have trained hard for 8 months at D.I.S.C with Coach “Doc” Kreis and I have been paddling on my one man for 7 months to get ready for Marina Del Rey’s Women’s Outrigger canoe team. We started our practices last Saturday and will start competing in early May.
I raced in my first OC-1 race on March 20th and came in 2nd place. It was 5.2 miles long and I had a pretty good time at 50:47. I know dad was out there with me pushing me along.
Kama just took off to compete in the annual Merrie Monarch in Hilo Hawaii. This will be his 4th competition there and the first one I will not be attending. I will be leaving on the 8th for a cruise from Florida across the Atlantic ocean to Scotland, Ireland, Falmouth, London and oh, Bermuda on the way over. Mom, my sister and Aunt will be joining me.
A lot of changes this year and I will be better at keeping you updated!
A new season of RedvsBlue starts tonight and it’s guaranteed to keep you guessing.
That’s all for now! Take care,

I hope this update finds everyone well! As we get closer to the holidays things seem to get more chaotic! Shopping, planning, decorating….I haven’t done any of it! Ouch!
I have been spending my days training and getting my body back in shape after a year of 3 surgeries. Training, eating right and paddling on my OC-1 is the best medicine for me. I will get more into my training as this website grows!
I’m looking forward to a wonderful 2010 and you know what….I’m leaving 2009 behind…..crap and all!
Keep posted for some cool stuff in the new year!
Hugs, Kathleen
The holidays can be wonderful, but also for some hard. But I’m beginning to understand the real meaning of this holiday season. I have had some very tough challenges with my career, and I have learned the hard way to not always “hang in there” with a company that might not be able to handle their business. Well, this has made things rather difficult for me financially. Which leads me to the next revelation……it’s okay to share with your family and close friends the hard times, because people really do want to help and care and be there. I had an angel help me today from my family, without me even asking and I felt in that moment like the “Grinch”….my heart melted and I felt okay to be human and to need help. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. I think I will always be just a bit better for going through all of this and seeing the true meaning of unconditional love.
My love and prayers go out to everyone that struggles this holiday season. Things will be okay and you will go on and really……you can breath.
All my love to C and J….you know who you are, for the biggest act of kindness I have ever experienced.
Holiday wishes to everyone.
Hugs, Kathleen
I’m very excited to share my new website with everyone. Kama was nice enough to create all of this and show me how to maintain and grow my new website. I’m looking forward to sharing my road to recovery and back in my Outrigger Canoe. I’m training and hoping this will be a good year back with Marina Del Rey Outrigger Canoe Club, Women’s Open team. I need to make up for a year being out with surgeries, but I’m up for the challenge!
This site will grow and I will be adding video, pictures and as much positive information I can write!
So for now, enjoy!
Hugs, Kathleen
Well here it is folks! Another website development. Right now itʻs still undergoing a major overhaul. I thought the site need to look a bit more professional, but at the same time be slick and attractive. Stay tuned for more blogs and what not in the near future!
